![]() The cover has GLITTER embedded in it.ĭrawings and text are beautifully integrated. The illustrations are line drawings with dipped-in colour in greys and pinks. It was a real pleasure to read a book with illustrations on every page. The uncredited typeface is large and pleasantly kerned. This is a book for children, aimed at a first-reading age. Not saving turtles and the beach and the ocean and the world.īut all in all, I had fun reading this one and it definitely brought me in holiday mood!Ī delightful sweet story about a half-vampire, half-fairy girl who, together with her Pink Rabbit, her friend the mermaid and the mermaid's marine unicorn Ocea, and both sets of parents, clears litter from the sea bed at their holiday resort. I just want to go back to the time when going to the beach meant going to the beach. I understand that our world needs our help and that we need to do things, but I read books for relaxation and pleasure and so many books try to put in the message to save the world that I am just getting put off from it so so much. ![]() I get that for neither of you it is something you very like, but look at your daughters. However I wasn’t a fan of how the parents kept complaining, good lord you guys won a freaking competition you could be a bit more grateful. The style is just the cutest and I love how everything is either pink or black. And then we also meet Marina again and see that she is staying nearby at an underwater hotel. I just love the location and I love reading how much fun Isadora has. She and her parents (and her sister of course) are off to a tropical location for sun and fun! Isadora is, naturally, hyped and looking forward to it.Ĭan I just tell you that I love how no one blinks an eye at vampires and fairies? I have yet to see any others who aren’t family but apparently vampires/fairies/other supernatural creatures are normal in this world and that is just the best. Isadora decides to draw something special for a contest and she wins. But that is enough for me as I can use some relaxation after this whole year, well since March. □ Just relaxing and reading and probably sleeping and hopefully swimming. Though my vacation is not as special as Isadora. I was so delighted to have a Isadora Moon who goes on vacation! I am celebrating my vacation now (this feels weird as I am writing this before my vacation :P). Ivy loved the books so much that we asked our very talented friend Shannon of Mockingbird Makes if she thought she might be able to crochet us some cuddly toys – and wow did she deliver! Ivy was so excited and now she gets to recreate Isadora’s adventures at home.Isadora wins a contest and goes off to a fun trip. It’s perfect to read aloud to the 4+ age group and for children aged 6 and over to read by themselves. ![]() Isadora’s world is one that is instantly recognisable to children – she goes to school, attends birthday parties, has sleepovers, goes camping and gets in to quite a bit of trouble along the way – but all her adventures are magical.Įach book is around 120 pages and is divided in to chapters with lots of beautiful illustrations. Book one is all about Isadora discovering (and becoming comfortable with) who she is and in the other books in the series we see her flourish. ![]() The stories are fantastic fun and promote individuality and acceptance. We love everything about Isadora’s world. Humans are all so wonderfully unique that perhaps Isadora will fit right in… What on earth is poor Isadora going to do? But then she realises there’s a third option – human school! Her parents are sceptical but soon discover it might just be perfect. Then she tries vampire school but her fairyness makes her stand out. There are schools for vampires and schools for fairies, but there aren’t any for vampire fairies!įirst she tries fairy school but she’s a little too vampire to fit in. In this first story, Isadora is ready to start school but she doesn’t know which one she should attend. Her mum is a fairy and her dad is a vampire, which makes her a vampire fairy! She lives with her family and her very special friend Pink Rabbit. Isadora Moon is a very special little girl. We read the first book – Isadora Moon Goes To School – over 3 days and she loved it so much that I ordered the rest of the series. I am starting with Isadora Moon as this was the first chapter book we tried and Ivy is OBSESSED. Hopefully by now you will have read my announcement from earlier this week – I am going to start reviewing Early Chapter Books alongside Board Books and Picture Books as we have recently started reading them at bedtime!
